UBUNTU I Am Because You Are

One of the most insightful answers I have found to the question, “What is Ubuntu?” is contained in a reflection by a South African, Barbara Nussbaum, after the carnage of September 11. Her poignant literary style enlivens the concept. “Ubuntu”, she says, “is the capacity in African culture to express compassion, reciprocity, dignity, harmony and humanity in the interests of building and maintaining community with justice and mutual caring.”

Ubuntu is not just an African philosophy but a spirituality and an ethic of African traditional life. In his work, No Future Without Forgiveness, Desmond Tutu, describes a person with Ubuntu as one with self-assurance who is open, available to others and affirms them.

Even though African society has been largely eroded of this primal value, the kernel of its philosophy remains a veritable motif for the forging of global peace platform. In history, the Ubuntu spirit, whatever name it has been given, is the one that has propelled the world towards oneness in the likes of Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa of Calcutta, Oscar Romero, Desmond Tutu, Joseph Stiglitz and Nelson Mandela.

They all embodied the Ubuntu spirit in the different contexts that they lived. It is however not sufficient that the Ubuntu spirit has punctuated history; it needs to be the default consciousness of humanity if there is to be a global culture peace.

Peace is never achieved through peace treaties and agreements because there will always be loopholes to circumvent the treaties, but through a deliberate and consistent commitment to the common good in the spirit of Ubuntu.

The above is an excerpt from Ubuntu, an African culture of Human Solidarity.

How to Be Happy: A Surprising Lesson on Happiness From an African Tribe

Inbuilt cooperation, part of the Human condition?

We are all weary Deanne . The world seems to be a hostile alien place, full of different factions fighting for control, of us, of our beautiful planet.

Sometimes in the fight for our freedoms, we may forget our ultimate goal is to be united in peace, harmony, mutual respect and ultimately love.

UBUNTU is a philosophy that may have originated in Southern Africa but it transcends race, color or creed. UBUNTU is about us, about being both totally human and at the same time recognising the spark of divinity to be found in each and every one of us.

To look into the face of your neighbour , whoever they may be and see not only yourself in just another form but also the face of God in that person .

We spend so much time looking at the lives of others whom we may feel are more privileged in some way than we are; not realising that our seemingly small lives have huge value, and in fact our small gestures of kindness and love can make the biggest differences.
We spend so much time pursuing “happiness ” and fulfillment we forget these things are found within ourselves and our unique ability to give of ourselves in love . This is where our true joy is. Loving others.

I found this and thought of” us ”

As a respite from wars, rumours of wars and the incessant chatter of busy lives, here is something to immerse ourselves in and take a breath.
Art is how we express ourselves, it is how we communicate to each other and the world where we see our place in that world and in the Universe. Art speaks of the human spirit and how, we all strive to find the divine within and without.
I hope you love this Deanne as much as I do. ❤

This is where we began our love of art. These beautiful paintings are an estimated 20,000 years old.

Food as Medicine – Kitty links

As you just celebrated Thanksgiving JD, I thought I would explore the deeper meaning of our relationship with food and how by growing the food we can change our individual small corners into a paradise.

Food as Love.

Food Really is Love – with Marc David

When we invite anyone into our home to eat we are asking them to enter our most sacred space: our home. We drop all barriers.
We are making a covenant of reconciliation, and thankfulness not just between each other but with God and Nature itself.
In the food we eat, made with love, we are literally sharing love, filling the spaces between us with that love.
Food is Love and Medicine for all.

Kitty Links! 🐱‍👤🐱‍👤🐱‍👤🐱‍👤

These are fantastic links you put together, when we work together we can do great things together, and one of those things is to plant a garden.  As the man said, if we grow it, they will eat it.

It doesn’t matter where you live or what kind of soil you have, and you can grow it. The soil is pretty crappy here, and my idea was to plant in a pots that palms come in; they are huge.  I have to find a volunteer to dig it into the soil.  That way, I can fill it full of excellent soil and make Jersey tomatoes cause they are lousy here.

Food has always been such an important thing we take for granted; it brings back old memories of how mom or grandma used to make it. Mine is how my father used to bring the bulldozer home and tear down the forest in our back yard to make 1/2 acre garden.  It gave him much joy to hand bushels of crops to neighbors. It’s now part of a shopping center.

There nothing like freshly grown food to bring the family together,  I know that some dread the holidays coming up, but think if you lost that someone how it would affect you? Relish in the joy that you have a family to go home too.  My family is 898 miles away.   Yesterday, on Thanksgiving, we put together a smoker grill combo and smoke three racks ribs. It would have been better with family.

Thank you, kitty, for all the beautiful things you have done to make our website more delightful! 🌸🥰💋JD

Our True Connections ~ Kitty Links~ Beautiful Relaxing Post

I saw this JD and decided to send it to you before I sent you anything else.

The videos and links remind us that even in the midst of darkness and despair, there is still absolute beauty and truths to be found.
Nature has a remarkable way of showing us we are connected to each other, to our God, the Universe, this is how we are truly connected and this connection can never be taken from us . ..

We can be totally in the world, but absolutely not of it, we can still see and be part of the miracle of life even when all we see and feel in the darkness.

We are all connected to each other, biologically.
To the Earth, chemically.
To the rest of the universe atomically.
We are not figuratively, but literally, stardust.

Daily Mail – Mario Lopez in trouble over opinion about transgender kids??

Mario Lopez did nothing wrong, and he can’t understand how parents let their children as young as three years old determine they want to be the opposite sex. Are children that aware?  It’s nonsense! Here we go with the leftist socialist speak!

Kids should be playing with toys, not ruining their lives for attention-seeking adults.  Kids will change their minds a million times! Let kids be kids.

Extra is owned by NBC Universal that backs the George Soros and Hillary narrative of gender-bending, limiting free speech and freedom of thought, calling people racist so you’ll fall in line. You know the Meghan Markle narrative to shame people. Don’t fall for it; resist this narrative!

Personally, I have no problem with LGBTQ, they are adults, and they made decisions. I would love to hear from trans people and tell me when they knew they were trans?  Maybe I’m missing something here because I can’t believe a three-year-old is thinking about their sexuality at that age.  I was a tomboy, and my mother used to say I should have named you Donald, I’m straight. Do you see what’s happening?

The globalist wants to reduce the population by abortion, gender-bending, racism, control the speech means controlling you.  They are part of the green new deal, climate change.  Only the few 1% get to indulge themselves. If they had their way you would never go anywhere and eat bean sprouts and grass all day.

Vote for Trump! Stop this insanity! Have faith in God!

Loving Kindness . Changing the World One Step at a Time .🐱‍👓🐱‍👓🐱‍👓 Kitty links of kindness

Yesterday was a hectic day JD. For you, getting the truth out there, and for the readers and posters of these articles, equally exhausting but no doubt in a different way.

After reading all this information, I became both angry and deeply sad at what seems to be the human condition. Are we really so lacking in any sense of what right and wrong is , where is our moral compass and is this what we really are becoming?

We all ask,” but what can I do”? ” I am just one small person in a huge world, nothing I can do will make a difference ”
As ever, the answer is simple, it’s always about the one, about you, and if there are many “ones” we, can all be instrumental in changing the world one step at a time. alone, but together.

We can move from victim to creator by practicing loving-kindness. Even when feeling anger we can immerse ourselves in the oasis of kindness.

In a single act of kindness we can create something wonderful, and like ripples on a pond a small seemingly insignificant gesture can bring joy and love to many.

Our reward? Who knows? But that feeling of joy and love is in itself the reward and the sense of inner peace is indescribably beautiful.
Jewish wisdom reminds us :

“It is not for you to complete the work, but it is up to you to begin it”.
This is who we are :

This video shows how those ripples on the pond work
Slowly, gently this man is planting the seeds of loving-kindness.
In the end, the garden made from kindness he has so lovingly watered blooms beautifully.
This is how we really are and what we were created to do.

Einstein said :
A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space.
He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.
This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us.

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.
Wise words.

This last video is from a series of videos narrated by Thich Nhat Hanh. It can be used during meditation or a quiet time.
It speaks of our suffering and how we can, even in our most dreadful of times find inner peace.

The child at the end of the video is even in the midst of chaos navigating away towards inner peace and tranquillity. Slowly, one step at a time. Which is how we can find our way back to our true selves.
Slowly, one step at a time with loving-kindness.

Kitty ❤
