During the 2016 election, Steele was working for the opposition research firm Fusion GPS, which received funding through the Perkins Coie law firm from the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. Steele’s Democratic benefactors were not revealed to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.
Senator Chuck Grassley (R- IA) wants to resurrect the sale of Uranium One to Russia that occurred under Hillary Clinton when she was Secretary of State, and thinks something fishy is going on with the FBI and one of their former contractors. But this deal never was much of a scandal.
The FBI had looked into the agreement and uncovered that some Russian nuclear industry officials were engaged in nefarious dealings, which included extortion, bribery and kickbacks, as reported in the Hill in 2017. Evidence of wrongdoing by Vadim Mikerin, the Russian official overseeing Putin’s nuclear expansion in the U.S. who was eventually sentenced to prison, was discovered by the FBI before the deal was approved.
That Russians were involved in nefarious dealings isn’t a surprise. That they gave away money to a charity and got the same results as if they hadn’t, is also not surprising. Many influence peddlers don’t succeed. But Clinton played no role in this decision so it’s unlikely they actually tried.
More trouble coming for the Clinton Foundation! You are not above the law Hill and Bill.
Sessions also asked Huber in 2017 to look into issues related to the sale of Uranium One and allegations that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had been improperly involved in the process, as well as broader claims of corruption at the Clinton Foundation. Barr suggested Huber might soon reveal findings from that inquiry.
“The other issues [Huber has] been working on relate to Hillary Clinton” are “winding down and hopefully we’ll be in a position to bring those to fruition,” Barr said.
Whoah! Lawyer up Hillary! You are not above the law
